What to Expect During Your First 30 Days with an IID

What to Expect During Your First 30 Days with an IID

Day One: Installation

Your technician will install the device, explain how to provide a breath sample, and walk you through the user interface. Plan for 60 to 90 minutes at the service center. You will leave with a certificate of installation and a clear understanding of your calibration schedule.

Building a Routine

The first month is about forming habits. Give yourself extra time before work, keep your mouth clean of contaminants like mouthwash, and avoid eating or drinking anything other than water for 15 minutes before testing.

Your First Calibration

Most Florida drivers return every 30 days for calibration. The device will warn you as the date approaches. Do not skip or delay this appointment; a missed calibration can be reported as a violation.

Common First-Month Mistakes

New users sometimes panic after a failed startup test caused by mouthwash, perfume, or fermentation from certain foods. Rinse with water and retest. If the issue persists, call your provider's 24/7 support line.
